A man told News4 he was questioned by police for an hour because of his resemblance to a composite sketch of the man wanted for killing an Alexandria woman last week.
A shooter knocked on Lodato's door in the 2400 block of Ridge Road Drive just after 11:30 a.m. Feb. 6 and opened fire. Lodato and her mother's caregiver were shot.
Lodato was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead. The surviving woman was shot in the arm and hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
Lodato's mother was also inside the home during the shooting, but was not injured.
The suspect is described as an older, balding man with gray hair and a beard. Police say he was wearing tan outerwear at the time of the shooting, possibly a jacket or a work coat.
Dale Monk, 55, told News4 he was stopped by police at the Rosslyn Metro station Tuesday evening, cuffed and questioned for an hour. Monk said he does not think he looks like the suspect.
"My hair's too long, my beard's too long," Monk said. "Metro Police came down with their guns pulled, telling me to come with them for no reason whatsoever, put handcuffs on me and forced me up the escalator ... and held me there for an hour."
Monk was released when detectives arrived to the scene and announced he was not the suspect.
Meanwhile, Alexandria Police tell News4 they're confident they're getting closer to an arrest since the sketch was released, adding they have received more than 500 tips.
