Jeffrey Sessions, the man killed early in the morning on July 3 in an Anne Arundel County watercraft crash, was the CEO of Red River, an IT company.
Sessions, 53, was found in the South River near Edgewater Drive with his wife, Elizabeth Howle, 48, around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday. The Reston, Virginia, couple left a home in Edgewater, Maryland, after 1:30 a.m. When the couple failed to return after witnesses heard a crash around 1:45 a.m., the witnesses called 911.
Authorities found a damaged and partially submerged 2019 Sea-Doo personal watercraft registered to Sessions, and later recovered Sessions and Howle from the river. Neither was wearing a life jacket.
The Claremont, New Hampshire-based company Sessions ran works in technology integration for “security, networking, analytics, collaboration, mobility and cloud solutions,” according to its website.
It has contracts in the commercial, civilian, defense, intelligence, healthcare and SLED (state, local and education) markets, with headquarters in New Hampshire, Virginia and Massachusetts and smaller locations in Texas, New York and California.
Following Sessions’s death, the company put out a statement.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected and sudden passing of our Chief Executive Officer Jeff Sessions,” the company said.

Executive Chair of Red River’s Board of Directors Rick Bolduc will serve as acting CEO in the wake of Sessions’ passing. Bolduc helped found the company in 1995, and served as its CEO until February of 2017.
