Police say the suspect in a robbery was injured when he was shot by a police officer in Southeast Washington Wednesday morning.
Officers were called to the 2500 block of Minnesota Avenue SE for a robbery around 1 a.m. and spotted a man fitting the suspect's description.
Authorities say the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Antwone Prince, fired at the officers, and was struck when the officers returned fire. Prince was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. Hours after the shooting, a police SUV was towed away from the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
Police say charges are pending against Prince.
