Man Accused of Selling Pot-Laced Candies at Fair in Maryland

Authorities say a Virginia man sold assorted candies laced with marijuana out of a booth at a fair in Maryland.

Robert Andrew Cody McGee, 24, pleaded guilty on Wednesday in Frederick County Circuit Court to possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, The Frederick News-Post reports. McGee was charged after an undercover County Sheriff's deputy purchased $80-worth of products from him at The Great Frederick Fair in September 2016.

Authorities say state lab tests had found the products contained cannabinol.

Assistant State's Attorney Colleen Swanson told the judge that prosecutors will seek a six-month sentence and two years' probation upon release. McGee's attorney, James DeLorenzo, will argue that McGee be sentenced to the more than a month he's already served awaiting extradition.

McGee's sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 31.
