Man Accused of Punching Teen During Football Melee

Attorney: Treasury Department investigator was trying to break up fight

A criminal investigator with the Treasury Department has been accused of punching a high school football player during an on-field fight after a game in northern Virginia.

Edward Bosak, 48, of Woodbridge, Va., turned himself in Monday to face misdemeanor charges of assault and battery and disorderly conduct, Prince William County police said. He was released on his own recognizance.

Bosak punched a 16-year-old player for the Hylton High School team after the Oct. 28 game between Hylton and Potomac High School, police said.

Bosak's son plays for Potomac and Bosak volunteers as an equipment manager, according to his attorney, Blair Howard. Bosak was trying to break up the melee on the field after the game, his attorney said.

Howard is confident Bosak will be cleared.
