Man Accused of 1970s Rape of Young Girl

A south Florida man has been charged in Maryland with raping a young girl more than 30 years ago, when he was a teenager.

A woman told detectives in 2009 that Christopher Chamblin had raped her multiple times in the late
1970s, when she was about 6 or 7 years old, Montgomery County police said. The woman told police that Chamblin had threatened to harm her if she told anyone.

At the time, Chamblin lived in Silver Spring and was between 14 and 16 years old. He's now 48 and lives in Davie, Fla. He's been charged with a single count of first-degree rape and is free on bond.

Creston Smith, one of Chamblin's attorneys, said Chambli "categorically denies'' the allegations and any inappropriate contact with the alleged victim.
