Major Delays on Red Line After Man Jumps on Tracks

Red Line riders experienced delays of more than an hour after a man jumped on to the tracks at the Grosvenor-Strathmore station and died Monday evening, according to the transit agency.

The man apparently jumped on to the tracks at about 6:10 p.m. He suffered fatal injuries but was not hit by a train.

No trains were allowed through the station until 7:05, when single-tracking began.

Shuttle buses are transporting riders around Grosvenor, but Metro noted that trains can carry almost 1,000 riders each while the buses can carry only 50.
