Loudoun County Man Convicted of Fatally Stabbing Wife

A Loudoun County man was convicted Thursday of killing his wife in the the stairwell of her Leesburg apartment building in May 2014.

A jury found Marco Corletto, 45, guilty of second-degree murder and stabbing in the commission of a felony in the murder of Roxana Rico.

The couple was separated at the time.

Prosecutors say Corletto repeatedly stabbed his wife. He was found in front of her apartment building with what appeared to be self-inflicted stab wounds to his left forearm.

Rico was airlifted to the trauma center at Inova Fairfax Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

She left behind two children.

The jury deliberated the sentence for less than half an hour before returning a maximum sentence of 40 years for the second-degree murder charge and five years for the stabbing charge.
