Lollar Files Gubernatorial Bid With Running Mate

Charles Lollar has filed to run in the Republican primary for governor with his new running mate, Kenneth Timmerman.

Lollar and Timmerman filed on Monday, a day before the filing deadline.

Lollar is a Charles County businessman. Timmerman is an author and conservative political activist. Timmerman was the GOP's nominee in Maryland's 8th congressional district race in 2012. Incumbent Democratic Rep. Chris Van Hollen won that election with 63 percent of the vote to 33 percent.

Lollar is running for the GOP nomination in Maryland's governor's race against Harford County Executive David Craig, real estate broker Larry Hogan and Anne Arundel County Del. Ron George.

Craig has chosen Del. Jeannie Haddaway as his running mate. Hogan has chosen Boyd Rutherford. George is scheduled to announce his running mate on Tuesday.
