Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan will recognize a Washington-based nonprofit at an upcoming Lilith Fair D.C. concert.

McLachlan, co-founder of the music event, will present Women Empowered Against Violence, Inc. (WEAVE) with a check during the show on Tuesday, Aug. 3 at Merriweather Post Pavilion.

WEAVE provides legal, counseling, economic and educational services to victims of relationship violence and abuse. The nonprofit won the Summer 2010 Lilith Fair "Choose Your Charity" campaign in the D.C. area, which had fans vote via social media.

Lilith Fair is a music festival featuring female artists and bands to fundraise for women’s charities. The event occured during the summers of 1997-1999. This is the first tour since 1999.
