Local Musical Group to Perform in Normandy

Alexandria Harmonizers selected for D-Day commemoration

A local musical group is taking center stage marking the 70th anniversary of the World War II invasion of Normandy.

The Alexandria Harmonizers, an a capella chorus, has been invited to perform in France at this year's D-Day commemoration June 6.

Music Director Joe Cerutti said the group has 120 singers ages 14 to 85. They've played all over the world and U.S., including Carnegie Hall.

The Harmonizers will join a select few musical groups that will perform in Normandy.

In advance of their trip, the group is performing Saturday in a special tribute to veterans. The free performance will be at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 2932 King St. in Alexandria.
