You don’t have to go all the way to the Jersey Shore to enjoy the East Coast’s best beaches. All you have to do is head to Delaware.
Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach are ranked among the Natural Resources Defense Council’s best beaches this summer. Both received five-star ratings.
The rankings are based on several factors, including water quality.
Just how prestigious is this distinction? More than 3,000 beaches nationwide were surveyed; just two other locations also received five stars (they were in Minnesota and New Hampshire).
Ocean City, Md., and Virginia Beach, Va., received four stars in the ratings.
You may want to avoid beaches along the Great Lakes in the Midwest as well as beaches in Los Angeles. They scored the lowest on the NRDC’s list of top beaches.
