Latest Trinidad Homicide May Have Stemmed From Dunbar Dispute

The Sunday night slaying of a teenager in the Trinidad neighborhood may have been the result of a dispute at Dunbar High School.

Dunbar senior Karon Shannon, 17, was shot twice in the chest on Simms Place while going to a corner store for his mother.

A 15-year-old girl with Shannon was struck in the leg. She is in an area hospital.

Last week, Shannon told his family he got into a fight in school and that it might come back to him in the neighborhood.

The homicide was the 10th in the neighborhood this year. That includes a 13-year-old from Alabama killed while visiting family.

Investigators have leads in the case but no arrests have been made, police said.
