A carjacking and shooting at the Largo Town Center Metro station has left two people injured, NBC Washington's Tracee Wilkins has confirmed.
The incident happened at about 7:15 a.m. on the roof of the parking garage at the station. Four masked men, including two with guns, robbed a 54-year-old man and his 21-year-old daughter of personal belongings, NBC Washington's Chris Gordon reported. Investigators said the woman was shot in the abdomen and her father was hit on the head with a blunt object. Both were transported to a local hospital and are expected to survive.
A Metro spokesman told the Associated Press that the culprits took off in two cars, including a 2010 Camaro belonging to the victims. The Camaro was recovered less than two hours later in northeast Washington thanks to OnStar and was being processed for evidence. Police searched the area for the culprits but didn't find them.
Police are looking for the other car -- a gray 2004 Audi station wagon with Maryland license plates 1DME50. They're also looking at surveillance video from the parking garage.
Police roped off a portion of the top level of the parking garage as part of their investigation. There was no disruption to rail service.
Metro police believe Wednesday's carjacking and shooting is related to a similar incident at the New Carrollton station Friday. A man said that at about 9:30 a.m., he was approached by several masked gunmen and was assaulted and robbed, Gordon reported. His vehicle -- a gray Audi station wagon believed to have been used in Wednesday's carjacking -- was taken and has not been recovered. He was treated for minor injuries at the scene, according to Metro.

Riders at the Largo Town Center station have said that crime break-ins are common at the garage.
In February 2010, a woman was carjacked and raped at the Metro station. The stolen vehicle was recovered six days later, parked in the station's garage.
Metro Board member Alvin Nichols, who represents Prince George’s County, has been assured that transit police are taking every precaution to protect the public.
"And we're doing everything that we can to find out why it happened, how it happened, and that the folks who caused it to happen are apprehended as quickly as possible."
