Dozens of fliers containing racist propaganda were dropped in front of businesses and homes in Loudoun County, Virginia, the day before Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Leesburg police said the fliers, which were distributed by individuals claiming to be Ku Klux Klan members, were found throughout the North King Street area of downtown Leesburg Sunday morning.
The fliers attacked Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and athlete Serena Williams and also promoted a KKK website.
"I knew I had to find every one I could on the street around here, find them and throw them away," resident Caleb Lear said. "I mean we don't need that stuff around here, not in this era, not in this time."
Similar fliers were found Sunday in the front yards of homes along Route 9, from Paeonian Springs to the West Virginia state line, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies found more than 80 fliers in plastic bags that were weighed down with birdseed.
Police said the fliers were likely randomly distributed and authorities don't believe the households were targeted.

This incident is not the first time KKK fliers have been found in Loudoun County. Similar fliers were distributed last year before the MLK holiday and again in February. Fliers have also been found in Halloween candy bags.
Residents in Leesburg have asked the police to act, but police say the most serious charge someone could face would be littering.
The Loudoun County NAACP says it will work with the state's attorney to craft a hate crime ordinance to prevent future distribution of KKK materials.
