Keep the Bus Running

Robbers use MTA bus as getaway vehicle

HANOVER, Md. -- Several men robbed two people at a light rail station, then used an MTA bus as a getaway vehicle, Anne Arundel County police said.

The two victims told police a group of eight men stole their cell phones around midnight Saturday near the Cromwell light rail station. Then the men boarded a Maryland Transit Administration bus.

Authorities caught up with bus on Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie. The victims identified three men as the alleged thieves, police said, and officers found the cell phones on the bus.

Josh Ewing and Charles James, both 17 and from Baltimore, and 25-year-old Paul Frederick, of Glen Burnie, have been charged with armed robbery. Police believe the other five robbers got off the bus at earlier stops.
