Juvenile Killed, Man Hurt in Construction Accident in McLean

A juvenile has died and a man is in the hospital after they were trapped in a ditch at a construction site in McLean, Virginia, authorities say.

They were both doing work Tuesday afternoon when they got stuck in the ditch in the 1800 block of Solitaire Lane, Fairfax County police said.

First responders pulled both of them out, but the juvenile, a boy under the age of 18, died shortly after.

The man was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

Children under the age of 16 are not allowed to work on construction sites, according to Viriginia's child labor laws.

Police said they could not reveal the juvenile's exact age due to privacy laws.

The Occupational Safety and Health Adminstration was at the scene investigating, according to police.
