Prosecutors submitted a significant number of items for DNA testing in the case of four men charged in the city's deadliest mass shootings in years.
The men are charged in the March 30 shootings in southeast D.C. that killed four people.
There are some other items that could be damaged by the testing, and D.C. Superior Court Judge Michael L. Rankin ordered the attorneys for both sides to agree on a lab for those items.
Rankin also spoke at the bench with defendant Orlando Carter and his attorney, who has requested to withdraw from the case. The judge said he would address the matter by the next hearing set for July 23.
The other men charged are Jeffrey Best, Lamar Williams and Robert Bost.
