Coolest Day of Heatwave Felt Like Hottest

The coolest day of this week's heatwave felt like the hottest thanks to the humidity and dew point.

Though the high temperature was only 95 degrees, Thursday's heat index reached 106 degrees, as the dew point was in the upper 70s.

Much of the D.C. region was under a heat advisory until 7 p.m. Thursday.

Some in the area saw isolated storms and showers Thursday afternoon. At Reagan National Airport, the temperature dropped below 90 degrees after the rain.

Last summer, the D.C. Metro area had 11 consecutive days of 95-degree temperatures or higher, while this summer, we have had six such days to date.

Temperatures are expected to remain in the high 90s Friday.
