Hospitalized in Alaska, Maryland Teacher Wants to Come Home

A former Maryland teacher who'd gone on a cruise is now terminally ill and unable to leave an Alaska hospital.

Media outlets report that 71-year-old Nancy Greathouse and her husband, Paul, went to Alaska on a two-week cruise in April. On April 28, she suffered a respiratory crisis and was taken via medevac from the cruise ship to a hospital in Juneau.

Now she's been at an Anchorage hospital for the past two months.

Greathouse has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, along with an autoimmune disease flare-up. She wants to live out her remaining days at home in Beltsville, Maryland, but doctors say she's not well enough to fly a commercial flight.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money for a medical evacuation flight, which could cost $50,000.
