WASHINGTON -- A U.S. Park Police officer was airlifted from the National Mall to an area hospital after getting bucked off his horse Tuesday afternoon.
The mounted officer was on the grounds of the Washington Monument when the horse got spooked while being surrounded by a group of schoolchildren. The horse reared back and threw the officer, who suffered a knee injury.
An onlooker chased the horse.
