Homeless Man Sentenced for Stabbing during Fight

A homeless man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for fatally stabbing an acquaintance during an argument at a gas station they frequented.

Richard Williams, 43, was sentenced Friday in Superior Court in Washington. He had been convicted of second-degree murder while armed in the death of Sean West, 37.

Prosecutors said the two got into a shoving match in a gas station in Oxon Hill, Md. just over the D.C. line on Aug. 27, 2010. Authorities said West walked into Washington after a third person broke up the fight.

Prosecutors said Williams ran after West and stabbed him in the chest. West ran back into Oxon Hill, collapsed and died hours later.
