Woman Wins Two $1M Powerball Prizes

Fike mistakenly bought two tickets instead of one

Virginia Lottery officials say a Berryville woman is the first person to win two $1 million Powerball prizes on tickets bought from the same store for the same drawing.

The Journal of Martinsburg, W.Va., reports that Virginia Fike claimed her prize Friday, taking home $1.4 million after taxes.

The 44-year-old Fike bought the tickets for the April 7 drawing at the OldeStone Truck Stop & Restaurant in Clear Brook. She said at a news conference at the store that she intended to buy one Powerball ticket and one Mega Millions ticket, using numbers associated with the day her parents were married. Instead, she mistakenly bought two Powerball tickets.

Fike said she hasn't made any plans for spending the money beyond paying bills.
