What to Know
- Storm Team4 is issuing a Weather Alert Friday afternoon.
The sun will come out just in time for Mother's Day... but there's going to be a lot more rain first.
Heavy rain will move into the D.C. area Friday afternoon, potentially bringing an inch or more of rain, according to Storm Team4 Meteorologist Chuck Bell.
Storm Team4 has declared Friday a Weather Alert Day.
There have already been flood warnings issued for parts of the Shenandoah Valley, but Bell said that more flood warnings are likely. Expect slow traffic and possibly delayed flights.
There's also a chance of showers Saturday morning, but the afternoon will offer breaks of sunshine from 12 p.m. to around 4 p.m. or 5 p.m., Bell said.
The rain will finally clear Sunday, with temperature highs in the mid-70s, Bell said.
