Heavy Rain on the Way Tuesday

100 percent chance of rain

After a pleasant weather stretch, some rain is on the way to the D.C. region.

News4's Veronica Johnson says there is a 100 percent chance of showers today, as a major block of moisture gets swept in from the south.

We could see the first drops in our area mid-morning.  Precipitation will pick up and could be occasionally heavy, starting around noon.  Those strong downpours will stick around through the evening commute until after dinner.

Tuesday's high will be right around 50 degrees.

Motorists should be aware the heavy rain could obscure visibility and make driving difficult.  As much as an inch of rain could fall before the storm moves on.

The good news - once the rain lets up, we should stay away for the rest of the week.  Right now, it looks like we'll be staying dry through the holiday weekend.
