The wires over the H Street streetcar project in D.C. are now live and energized with 750 volts of electricity.
The District's Department of Transportation announced today that they have switched on the overhead lines which power the streetcars.
Those lines will stay energized as crews continue to test the street car system on H street in Northeast.
DDOT is warning people to stay at least 10 feet away from the live wires -- and not to touch the poles.
