Lemons, Cherries and Lucky Sevens at BWI?

Slots proposed for airport

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Suddenly, those long airport delays may not seem so bad...

With the bidding process for five slots parlors in Maryland off to a shaky start, a state delegate has introduced a bill to place slots inside BWI-Marshall Airport.

The bill would allow a slots parlor to be opened inside the airport terminal with up to 3,000 machines. The machines would be available only to those flying in or out of the airport.

Voters would have to approve it as an amendment to the state constitution in November.

Potential operators would have until April 2011 to apply for a license with the Maryland Video Lottery Facility Location Commission.

The bill is sponsored by Democratic Delegate Eric Bromwell of Baltimore County. It has 10 co-sponsors, all but one from Baltimore County. The airport is located in Anne Arundel County, but no Anne Arundel lawmakers have signed onto the bill.

House Bill 777 is a long shot at passing this legislative session.
