‘Gathering of Hope' to Be Held for Missing Teacher

A vigil will be held Wednesday night amid efforts to find missing Wilde Lake High School teacher, Laura Wallen.

The "Gathering of Hope" will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Wild Lake Interfaith Center, according to Wilde Lake's Student Government Association.

Wallen was last seen at her home in Olney, Maryland, around 8:30 a.m. Sept. 4. Her family said they received a "troubling" text message from her about an hour later, but attempts to reach her were unsuccessful. She also failed to show up to Wilde Lake’s first day of classes.

Wallen's boyfriend, Tyler Tessier, has expressed great concern for her safety.

"Laura, if you're listening, it doesn't matter what's happened," Tessier said. "It doesn't matter what type of trouble. There's nothing we can't fix together - myself and your family."

The 31-year-old teacher is four months pregnant, according to her family. They are offering a $25,000 reward for information that leads to her whereabouts.

At a press conference on Monday, Laura's dad, Mark Wallen said the family is not losing hope.
