A funeral will be held Friday for a 15-year-old boy who was gunned down in front of his mother and sisters last month in a Metro station.
Davonte Washington's funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Glenarden. A viewing will precede the service.
Washington was on his way to get a haircut for Easter when 17-year-old Maurice Bellamy shot him on the platform at Deanwood Metro station, police said.
The suspect allegedly asked Washington why he was looking at him and if he knew him from somewhere. Washington replied "What?" and Bellamy shot him twice in the chest and ran away, witnesses said.
Davonte was a freshman at Largo High School, where he was in the school's Air Force JROTC program.
"A wonderful young man. Had a great head on his shoulders, wasn't a troublemaker," said Pastor Jerome Bowie, a friend of the family.
Bellamy has been charged in Davonte's murder. Family and friends said Bellamy didn't know Davonte.
