I-495 Outer Loop in Bethesda Back Open After Fuel Spill

A stretch of the Beltway Outer Loop in Bethesda, Maryland, was closed for hours Saturday evening because a tractor-trailer leaked fuel.

The "large" fuel spill happened just before the Old Georgetown Road exit, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer said.

All Outer Loop lanes have reopened between MD-355/Rockville Pike and Old Georgetown Rd., but there are still significant delays.

Piringer said a hazmat crew worked to clean up the fuel.
