Freeze Warning for Parts of DC Area Overnight, Early Friday

Winter just won't loosen its grip on us. A freeze warning has been issued for areas along and west of Interstate 95, including Fairfax, Montgomery, and Loudoun counties, from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday.

While Thursday's daytime temperatures are in the mid to upper 50s, strong wind gusts upwards of 40 mph are making it feel more like the mid 40s, Storm Team4 said.

Overnight, temperatures could plummet to the 30s — and possibly upper 20s.

Storm Team4's Amelia Draper advises to bring inside or cover up sensitive plants overnight so they don't freeze.

There will be a cold start to the day Friday and kids should bundle up at the bus stop, Draper said. Temperatures will reach the 50s during the day. Although it will be breezy and chilly, there will be plenty of sunshine Friday.

Temps will warm up slightly by the end of the week, although it will still be unseasonably cool for this time of year. By Sunday, we'll be back in the low 60s.
