Former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe's SUV was stolen in the District on Monday but quickly found.
According to a police report, McAuliffe parked his Ford SUV in the 900 block of 6th Street NW about 1 p.m. Monday. When he returned an hour later, it was gone. The Washington Post reports that he was on his way to a party for his new book when he discovered the car was gone.
The vehicle was later found parked on K Street NW between 1st Street NW and North Capitol Street, a short distance from where it was originally parked.
McAuliffe tweeted and thanked D.C. police for the quick recovery. "Thank you to the DC Police. Quite a day. Went in for lunch...came out and car was stolen. @DCPoliceDept was right on it," McAuliffe posted. "Car recovered immediately. Thank you for a job well done."
