A former Brandywine, Md. high school football player was released from the Vanderbilt University Football Team Monday, due to sex assault allegations.
Brandon Banks, a 2012 Gwynn Park High School graduate, along with three other men, was released from the team.
"We are cooperating fully with the Nashville Police Department and have pledged not to say or do anything that could interfere with its work or compromise the rights of anyone involved. We have not prejudged anyone's guilt or innocence," Vanderbilt Head Coach James Franklin said in a statement.
The alleged sex assault occurred June 23 at a Vanderbilt dorm room. The other football players released from the team are Cory Batey, Jaborian "Tip" McKenzie and Brandon Vandenburg.
