Are you wiping the sweat out of your eyes yet? Blazing heat and humidity are sending the heat index soaring in the D.C. area all this week.
Thursday's heat index hit a scorching 105 degrees in D.C. Thursday afternoon, and Friday's heat index could surpass that, possibly reaching between 105 and 110 degrees, Storm Team4 said.
Storm Team4 declared Weather Alert Days for Thursday and Friday. A heat advisory is in effect for the entire region through 7 p.m. Thursday.
Air quality is at Code Orange Thursday, which means sensitive groups such as the very young, the elderly and those with respiratory issues should limit outdoor activities.
And the heat isn't going anywhere -- Thursday marks just the fourth day of what will ultimately be an eight- to nine-day heat wave, Storm Team4 said.
