Flash Flood Watch Issued Ahead of Rain

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Friday afternoon through late Friday night as rain and possible storms arrive in the D.C. area.

There were scattered showers and thunderstorms Thursday night, but more rain is possible throughout the day on Friday.

It will be partly cloudy with a few showers early Friday. But everyone in the D.C. region will have a good chance of seeing some rain throughout the day, NBC Washington chief meteorologist Doug Kammerer said.

Some of the showers could be heavy at times, and some areas could see 1-2 inches of rain per hour by the afternoon.

The rain could continue into the evening, but should start to clear out late Friday night.

The sun could finally return during the day on Saturday.
