Federal Offices Open Friday Until Noon

Federal workers are expected to go to work Friday but have the option to take unscheduled leave or work remotely starting at 12 p.m., the U.S. Office of Personnel Management announced Thursday night.

Federal government employees are instructed to leave their offices no later than noon, a message sent at 10:35 p.m. said. Many workers expected the agency to declare a snow day and tell employees to stay home.

"Emergency employees are expected to report and remain at their worksite unless otherwise directed by their agencies," the message said.

School is canceled for most districts in the area.
