Loved ones of the four people who were killed after an SUV struck a utility pole gathered for a vigil Saturday in Prince George's County, Maryland.
The victims, Samuel Moss, 35, Shyra Harris, 24, Antonio Price, 27, and Jasmine Davis, 21, were riding in an SUV headed west when they crashed.
"I haven't really cried yet, because I don't want to believe that this is happening," Mildred Asante, the mother of Price, said.
"He was the protector of the family, even though he was the little brother," Shannon Collins, Price's brother, said.
At the vigil, attendees hugged and cried before a balloon release to honor the four dead.
Police said the SUV the four people were riding in was heading west on Sheriff Road between Cedar Heights Drive and Cypresstree Drive around 10:30 p.m. Thursday when the driver swerved to avoid an approaching car that was making a left turn.
"Up ahead there is another car trying to make a left turn,” Prince George’s County police spokesperson Jennifer Donelan said. “When the Chevy Tahoe approaches that car, there is a maneuver where the driver tries to get around the car that's waiting to make the left turn."

The driver lost control and the SUV struck a curb, rolled over several times and took out mailboxes before hitting the utility pole and taking down power lines, police said.
Police initially thought two of the victims had been pedestrians but later determined they had been ejected from the car.
Police are investigating the accident and say it could take months to complete.
