Fairfax Supervisors Seek Resolution of Shooting

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors is asking federal prosecutors to wrap up their months-long investigation into whether a county police officer should face charges for a fatal shooting last year.

An unidentified officer shot and killed John Geer of Springfield in August 2013 after being called to his home in a domestic dispute. Since then, authorities have said little about the case.

Fairfax County Commonwealth's Attorney Ray Morrogh recused himself late last year for an unspecified conflict. The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia has not commented on its review.

The Washington Post reported county supervisors sent a letter recently to U.S. Attorney Dana Boente expressing concern that the investigation has remained unresolved for so long.

Geer's family has filed a civil lawsuit.
