Fairfax Co. Officer Relieved of Duty in Midst of Child Porn Investigation

A Fairfax County police officer has been relieved of duty Thursday relating to a criminal investigation involving child pornography, police said.

The investigation began when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children contacted detectives after receiving a tip from a blogging and social media site, reporting someone at a home in Fairfax County had uploaded child pornography through its servers, authorities said.

Detectives began their investigation Monday, and said they determined the residence was owned by a Fairfax County police officer Wednesday.

Police said the officer has been with the department for 15 years and worked at police headquarters in an administrative capacity.

Fairfax County police said they're conducting a criminal investigation and will also complete an administrative investigation.

The officer has not been charged.
