Fairfax Police Investigating Use of Stun Gun During Arrest

Fairfax County police say they are investigating an arrest in which an officer used an electronic stun gun, an incident that was captured on video and posted to social media.

In the video, a man is seen turning around and putting his hands on a police car before the officer uses the stun gun.

Capt. Ed O'Carroll, a police spokesman, says Internal Affairs investigators are looking into the arrest, which occurred Thursday at a shopping center in the Alexandria area. He says the officer was looking into a theft complaint. Police say the man who was shot with the stun gun was later arrested.

The arrest occurred two days after prosecutors announced that no one would be charged in the death of a mentally ill woman at the county jail.
