Fairfax, Montgomery Counties Team to Tackle Traffic

Traffic gridlock is a common headache for drivers in the area, especially commuters travelling between Virginia and Maryland.

Lawmakers from Montgomery County, Md., and Fairfax County, Va., met Wednesday to come up with solutions to the traffic delays in the D.C. region.

Expanding the American Legion Bridge, which often bottlenecks during rush hour, to accommodate rapid transit may be one of the solutions, with buses that travelling in dedicated lanes. Montgomery County leaders believe rapid transit is in our future.

There is also a proposal to expand express Metrobus service between Montgomery and Fairfax counties. Also, Metro’s Silver Line will offer an alternative to Dulles International Airport and Loudoun County.

The local leaders agree that it will be helpful to continue the conversation about ways to relieve traffic in this region.
