Fairfax County's First-Ever Forum on Human Trafficking

Community meeting tonight in West Springfield

Children across the country are the prey of human traffickers, targeted and manipulated into selling their bodies.

The victims are targeted regardless of ethnicity, gender or socio-economic class.

The Fairfax County Police Department and Fairfax County Public Schools are sponsoring a forum Wednesday night at West Springfield High School at 7 p.m.

Detective Bill Woolf, a member of the police human trafficking unit, will present risk factors and common scenarios, as well as where to go for help.

Lucy Caldwell with Fairfax County Police says most parents think that they don't have to talk with teenagers about "stranger danger," but this is a new kind of danger that parents and the public needs to be aware of.

It's part of the Just Ask VA campaign that includes resources and stories of survivors.
