Police officers arrived and requested everyone stay away from area while they worked toward a peaceful resolution. Police used a robot and gas grenades after Moaf didn't follow repeated commands to surrender, authorities said.

Two family members made it out of the house safely without injuries, but the Moaf threatened to shoot police officers, police said.

One gunshot rang out about 6 a.m., but no one was hurt.

Once Moaf was in custody, police say he became sick on the way to a psychiatric evaluation and was taken to an emergency room.
