A letter went home to the parents of some Fairfax County middle school students on Thursday explaining that an English teacher has been charged with possession of child pornography.
Police searched Robert Keith Rowe's home on S. Forest Street in Arlington, Virginia, on Thursday and arrested him.
Rowe, 56, is being held without bond and has been suspended from his teaching job at Sandburg Middle School.
Arlington County police said they began investigating Rowe's online activities after receiving a tip about possible criminal behavior.
Detectives have not found any evidence so far to suggest he had inappropriate contact with children, police said.
"At this time, we have no reason to believe that any of our students are in any way involved or directly affected," Sandburg Middle School said in the letter to families.
According to the school's website, Rowe taught English to non-native speakers.
