Skateboards dashed through Germantown, Md., Tuesday afternoon during the opening of the First Skate Spot.
Kids and community members cut the ribbon for the new skate park located at 20000 Aircraft Drive which is the also the 5th District police station.
The difference with this skate park is that it was made possible by kids, as well as the suits.
"This is our police dept working with the youth in the community to understand... what the youth want to accomplish and what they think is fun and recognize they need a safe environment in which to do it," said Maryland County Councilmember Mike Knapp just before the ribbon cutting ceremony for the park.

The park was a recommendation received from a number of Germantown teens who participated in the Germantown Community Based Collaboration, according to the county.
Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett established the group, comprised of community residents, government officials and nonprofits under the countywide PositiveYouth Development Initiative.
He participated in the opening for the park Tuesday afternoon.
"They offer some relief for many communities and businesses against complaints of trespassing, noise, traffic accidents, and disorderly conduct. They can keep our youth off the streets," Leggett said, referring to the parks.
Dude, what this really means is: It's game on for skateboarders across Montgomery County!
