Washington County authorities say a Hagerstown-area machine shop worker is dead after a tractor tire he was inflating exploded.
Pablo JuanMartinez, 31, apparently was kneeling between the tractor's two front tires at Eastern Trailer Sales on Mount Lena Road when one tire exploded near his face, Deputy Fire Chief Keith Abrecht said.
The First Hose Company of Boonsboro was among the units that responded, The Herald-Mail reported Monday.
The Maryland Occupational Safety and Health agency says it's investigating the incident.
