Ex-School Aide to Face Additional Charges in Sex Abuse Case After Another Victim Comes Forward

The former school aide accused of filming child pornography inside a Maryland elementary school is facing additional charges after another victim came forward to investigators, the News4 I-Team reports.

The 13-year-old victim accused Deonte Carraway of enticing him to engage in a sex act on camera, investigators say.

A new indictment has just been handed down against Carraway at U.S. District Court in Greenbelt, Maryland.

Carraway was arrested in February after the uncle of a 9-year-old boy saw a nude image on the child's phone, police said. Investigators then linked the aide at Judge Sylvania Woods Elementary School in Glenarden, Maryland, to the abuse of 23 victims age 9 to 13.

Carraway was indicted in June on 270 counts of sex abuse of a minor, sex offenses and child pornography charges. He pleaded not guilty.

His lawyers argued that the court should suppress some of the defendant's statements because they may have been "involuntary." His attorneys said Carraway "exhibited significant cognitive deficits, with a full scale IQ of 63, which placed his overall intellectual functioning in the deficient range."

Carraway's trial is set to begin in spring 2017. The new allegations could add another 30 years to the possible prison sentence Carraway faces.

Carraway is expected to appear for an initial appearance in federal court January 30. He also faces dozens of local criminal charges in Prince Georgeโ€™s County.
