DuVal High School Teacher Accused of Sending Inappropriate Text Messages to Student

A teacher at DuVal High School in Lanham, Maryland, has been arrested following allegations he sent a student inappropriate text messages, Prince George's County police said.

Doney Olivieri, 66, of Southeast Washington was charged with sexual solicitation of a minor, fourth-degree sexual offense and second-degree assault.

According to charging documents, the foreign language teacher groped a 16-year-old student and asked him for sex via text messages, but those messages actually went to another student.

A relative of the victim told police Saturday Olivieri sent the inappropriate text messages from June to September of this year. The victim also accused Olivieri of squeezing his chest and asking him for a kiss in a classroom in September, police said.

According to charging documents, Olivieri admitted to requesting sex from the victim through text messages. Police arrested him Monday.

Olivieri has been placed on administrative leave, said Raven Hill, a spokeswoman for Prince George's County Public Schools.

"Any behavior that brings harm to a student will not be tolerated in any way in Prince George's County Public Schools," Hill said.
