Dunk Your Head in D.C.

D.C pools are extending hours during the heat wave

With the ongoing forecast of extreme heat, the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation is extending outdoor pool hours. So take your family with you.  It’s refreshing to take a dunk in the pool. 

The extended hours will be in effect through Thursday. All pools are opening two hours early, and those with outdoor lighting are staying open later.

So pick a pool near you:

  • Anacostia, 1800 Anacostia Drive SE: 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. 
  • Banneker, 2500 Georgia Avenue NW: 11 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  • Benning Park, Southern Avenue and Fable Street SE: 11 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. 
  • Douglass, Frederick Douglass Court and Stanton Terrace SE: 11 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. 
  • Fort Dupont, Ridge Road and Burns Street SE: 11 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. (Closed Tue., Open Wed.) 
  • Fort Stanton, 1800 Erie Street SE: 11 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. 
  • Harry Thomas Sr., 1743 Lincoln Road NE: 11a.m. - 9 p.m. 
  • Oxon Run, 4th Street and Mississippi Avenue SE: 11 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. 
  • Theodore R. Hagans Jr., 3201 Fort Lincoln Drive NE:  11 a.m. - 9 p.m. 
  • Volta Park (formerly Georgetown), 3400 Volta Place NW: 11 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Indoor pools, children’s pools and spray parks will maintain regular hours of operation.
