DUI, Hit-and-Run Suspect Stopped With Daughter in Car

A woman suspected of driving under the influence and a hit-and-run had her 3-year-old daughter in the car when she was stopped Saturday evening, according to Prince William County police.

An officer saw a car with extensive damage to its side hit a construction barrel in Woodbridge, Virginia, after 8:30 p.m., police said.

The officer stopped the vehicle, observed its airbags deployed and determined the driver, 26-year-old Rachel Diane Brand of Woodbridge, to be under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Brand's daughter was not injured and was released to a family friend.

Brand was charged with felony child neglect and DUI. She was also connected to a hit-and-run on Interstate 95 that Virginia State Police is investigating.
